Peter has witnessed bullying as it happened to others and has himself experienced it. The Bullies of Poughkeepsie is his story, and, it is a good one for the ages. Not long after one of his bad experiences, battling bullies, Peter traveled to Poughkeepsie, a small city in New York, to spend the holidays with his grandparents.  Even here, in the backyard of the world’s greatest city, The Bullies of Poughkeepsie, led by one Carlos, found him.

Young Peter has seen it all. It looked as if bullies followed him around in every city he visited, including Paris. He had come to the City of Lights with his parents for the long holidays. He concluded that these mean-spirited boys and girls existed in every major city in the world.

But, it was in Poughkeepsie that he witnessed the worst kind of bullying as was perpetrated by the Carlos gang on a little girl because she was of a mixed race. Her name is Angela…and her story will definitely break your heart

  • “Alley-gators” is a great children’s book specifically for children (Adults can also read) full of inspiring scenes and one of the greatest books in the series.” Alley-gators” can change lots of children’s lives such as anti-bullying, Alley-gators will stop bullies from being bullies, I have read the book and I loved it. So come and buy the book and teach your child about bullying.
Alley-gators really got to me when the bullies were throwing a boy’s inhaler around and pushed his head into the sand and he sadly died in the hospital, so yes, bullying is that bad or the part when peter got beaten up they stole his shoes, Bullies are not born they become one. The writing style is like a diary entry it is easy for children to understand and has good punctuation. Above is my 9 years old’s verdict, in his own words, after reading it.

  • Nkem is an AMAZING writer. She has a heart of gold
I finally got the chance to read this book and when I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down. Nkem is an AMAZING writer. She has a heart of gold! Making a difference in every child is what she’s about.

Bullying is a problem all over the world! I was bullied when I was a child and reading this book would help educate both the parent and the child about bullying and its ugly consequences. It’ll make you think (see page 41) and ask yourself, am I raising a bully? If so, you can do something about it. If we love our child, we would do something to stop their bad behavior before they’ll become a problem to our society.

Parents, we have a great responsibility to “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 (KJV)

  • Bullying and Bullies have become part of the stubborn challenges that parents and the school systems across the country face. Bullying has attracted both the national and local attention in recent times.
Nkem DenChukwu, in this book, has deftly explores the continuous tensions between the bully and the bullied, the eventual outcome, and the effects in the parties and the community in general.
Any problem affecting our young children, should be everybody’s business. Nkem DenChukwu has cleverly crafted this book for the purpose of helping with this problem.
This book has a broad audience appeal, and very engrossing!
I recommend it to every school system and families, even to reluctant readers!

  • I really love Zoe, Odera, and especially Alley-Gators because it taught me a lesson, bullies are just cowards who want to hurt others and that bullies are definitely not born but made.
