Nkem DenChukwu was born in Enugu, Nigeria, on July 4th, into the family of Igwe DenChukwu. She is the sixth of seven children of her Mother, Mrs. Victoria DenChukwu. She lost her father at 12, and migrated to the United States in 1994. While living in the East Coast many years later, she earned her bachelor's degree in Computer Networking and master's degree in Health Services Administration. Nkem co-authored The Unstoppable Woman's Guide to Emotional Well-Being, in January 2012 with 22 other females authors and Life Coaches.

Her first solo book, Tribal Echoes; a book about restoring hope to the African culture was published in April 2012. In this book, she encourages everyone, every race, to embrace their culture. It's also a short story collection. Blair Underwood, Rt. Col. Frank Underwood, and Pauletta Pearson Washington also have signed copies of Tribal Echoes. "Childhood orientation helps shape OR destroys a child’s life, eventually," Nkem strongly believes. She decided to write children’s books in an effort to inspire & empower more than one child at a time. Therefore, LIFE LESSONS; A Collection of Inspirational Children's Books was created. She writes each children's book from the heart; with every child in mind. The book ZOE (First Edition) was endorsed by the Mayor of Houston, Annise Parker, after its publication in 2013. Second Edition of ZOE, ALLEY-GATORS: The bullies of Poughkeepsie (Second Series), and ODERA: An Orphan’s Tale (Third Series) were released in November 2014. Nkem has a flare for writing inspirational and creative verses, two of which were published in The Oprah Magazine (O, July 2014, (p16) and May 2015 (p28) Editions).

Her thought provoking articles have been featured in local magazines on “Straight Talk." Also, her love for photography is simply refreshing. Most mornings, she would sit outdoors, patiently waiting for the sunrise to paint the skylines golden red, add glow on her face, and hope in her heart. To Nkem, the sight of the sun is hope. Some of her photos were displayed at the Children's Museum in Sugar Land, Texas, and one photo won a Photography Award as one of the finalists at the “ 2013 Photography Vibes Contest," and published in Photography Vibes Book (Under "Nature"). In 2012, she joined a fledging group of filmmakers that specializes in Independent Film Productions with a mixture of Nollywood and Hollywood as their backdrop. She produced PAGE 36 with two other producers in the same year.

In 2014, Nkem produced POUND OF FLESH - POF, a film that captured the hearts of many around the globe. In 2015, POF received the "Rising Star Award at the 2015 Canada International Film Festival," under the "Feature Competition Category" and Best Drama in Diaspora at the 2015 African Oscars - NAFCA. Her first solo outing as a producer was in 2013 when she produced the ultimate African Action- Adventure film titled GEM OF THE RAINFOREST. She co-produced PAGE 36 in 2012. Nkem has been featured on ABC 13 Eyewitness News Houston and interviewed by Melanie Lawson on "CrossRoads," on FOX 26 News "Black Voices," and interviewed live by Emmy Award Winner Melissa Wilson of Fox 26 News during the 2014 Black History Month Celebration. Currently, she is currently pre-producing her new film project entitled "JURICA ROAD," her first Psycho Thriller.

Nkem was named one of Africa's Top 40 Women in Films and Television by FilmBiz Magazine in 2013. She has also been on several Radio and Talk Shows, (VOA) Voice of America Radio and Africa 54 included, to mention a few. Considering Nkem has been living in the States for 23 years, she is one of those African parents proud and glued to her roots, making sure that her children know and always remember where they are from, while appreciating what makes them Africans. Her daily dose of inspiration is to inspire others. Even a smile, she says makes a BIG difference. Nkem constantly uses her kitchen not because it came with the house, but because she loves to cook and entertain. She is known among family, friends and neighbors for her creativity in healthy cooking. Nkem embraces every challenge that life throws at her knowing that God is only a prayer away. “Each day is an opportunity to learn something new and be a better individual,” she says. She strongly believes that we live by learning, learn by living and not just existing. Nkem is a determined, dedicated, focused and, empowered woman with a very positive mindset. One of her greatest desires is to be an Inspiration/a blessing to more than one person.

She lives in Texas with her family.
